What would you do if someone handed you the keys to a brand-new motorcycle and said, “It’s yours!” Now there are two fellas on Colorado’s roads who can tell you exactly what that feels like.
Since early in the 2017 riding season, my law firm has been aggressively promoting a motorcycle giveaway to benefit BikerDown, a nonprofit organization that assists injured riders and their families. This is the second time we’ve given away a new motorcycle to benefit the organization.
Back in 2015, we gave away a Harley-Davidson Dyna Wide Glide FXDWG to a gentleman by the name of Fred Salazar. Over the years, we’ve also given away motorcycle gear, accessories, gas cards, and even a trip to Sturgis.
This year, we gave away another new bike. And, after months of online registrations and fun events around the state, we finally gathered on Saturday, September 23, to give away a sweet 2017 Triumph Bonneville T120 to a brand-new owner.
Over 100 people braved the driving rain to gather at Erico Motorsports, on 28th & Walnut Street, to witness the final stage of the Triumph Motorcycle Contest. In addition to the 10 pre-qualifiers drawn from advance registrations, we drew another 10 names from those who came to the event. That meant 20 people would have a set of keys to try to start the bike.
As I said at the event: “This contest is all about raising awareness for BikerDown. They do so many great things for the riding community in Colorado and we want more riders to know about them and support them. Sponsoring this giveaway is one way to introduce more people to this fantastic nonprofit organization.”
