The stroke of midnight on New Year’s Eve is the party pinnacle of the year for pretty much anyone, but where do people want to spend that climactic moment? Those who are truly dedicated to an epic party experience don’t settle for paper hats and plastic noisemakers in a small venue. While some who seek a big night may flock to watch Times Square on TV at the local pub with the most utterly basic understanding of what partying even is, those more experienced in the realm of raging travel from far and wide to Denver, Colorado to be a part of a gigantic production aptly named “Decadence.” Recognized as the biggest New Year’s Eve festival in America, Decadence is a two day sold-out adventure that is rooted in Colorado and has branched out to sister shows in Utah and Arizona after years of overwhelming popularity, prime production value, and mind-blowing performances from the very top electronic dance music artists in the game. This is an event that smashes the ball drop with the bass drop, and calls itself a city of its own due to its incredible scene following and utopian lifestyle.
In terms of major headliner talent, this year’s show had a pocket full of aces. With such acts as Deadmau5, Bassnectar, Jack U, Hardwell, Excision, Gramatik, Big Gigantic, Tommy Trash, Odesza, Matthew Koma, Galantis, and more for days, this massive dance party wasn’t just about the countdown, but an experience of monumental size from December 30th into the New Year that turned downtown Denver into an anthill of EDM fans for both incredibly successful nights.
Two monstrous stages of audio and visual perfection plus EDM.com’s luminous silent disco garden all within the Colorado Convention center created space for two nights of wild abandon for roughly 20,000 fans who scrambled for Decadence’s high-demand tickets, some driving hundreds of miles to experience the mile high party profile Denver has. Thanks to the legacy of Global Dance Events, it’s no secret that Colorado has become one of America’s most vital hubs for EDM. With AEG and Live Nation on board, Denver’s party power is unstoppable going into 2016 and beyond.
Decadence is the shining example of what the heart of Colorado has to offer electronic music fans on a global scale. From bassheads bouncing in the front row to VIPs popping champagne in bottle service, this event had something for everyone who wanted to go big this year. Cheers to the party people of Decadence who made the turning of the year into a true moment in history.
